Medical doctor (MBBS), with master’s degree in International Primary Healthcare from Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry -Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) and PhD from the Institute for Health Research, University of Bedfordshire. Zhraa has cross-cultural clinical experience overseas in more than 20 international hospitals and clinics. She is a senior fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a researcher in public health. Zhraa is actively involved in health promotion campaigns and designing culturally sensitive health promotion educational activities. She is also a novelist and short story writer with international recognition.
Zhraa worked with multidisciplinary research teams and funded projects related to cyber-victimisation and chronic conditions, disability discrimination and cyber-hate, chronic disease management, and using innovative technologies in healthcare. Zhraa’s research on cyber-victimisation examines the scope and impact of cyber-victimisation against people with long-term conditions, this includes collaborations with disability organisations, victim support groups, and patient support groups. A major theme in Zhraa’s work is tackling disability discrimination in cyberspace and the impact on health. Her research provided evidence to support policy change and recommendations for law reforms in the UK. Her recent research examined disabled people’s online experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic.
