I am a recent PhD graduate from the Open University, funded by NERC through CENTA DTP.
My doctoral thesis is titled "The Formation and Age of leucogranitic Melt in the Garwhal Himalaya". https://doi.org/10.21954/ou.ro.00016216
I previously studied geology at the University of Southampton, earning an Integrated Master's degree.
For my PhD project, I studied leucogranites, migmatites and metapelites from the Garhwal Himalaya, India. I constrained the source, melt reactions and timescales of melting episodes of these upper Greater Himalayan Sequence rocks to build on our knowledge of mountain belt formation and mid-crustal metamorphic processes.
This involved detailed petrographic observation of samples collected during my fieldwork in the Himalaya in October 2018, coupled with EDS and LA-ICP-MS elemental data collected at the Open University, as well as analysis of O isotopes, U-Th-Pb, and trace elements in zircon separates.
My wider research interests include igneous and metamorphic petrology, geochemistry, geochronology, and orogenic processes.
