Gender Equality in STEM

I take great pleasure in leading a faculty that is committed to gender equality across the STEM disciplines. Through our teaching, research, public outreach and engagement, and working practices we seek to:

  • acknowledge the historic, but often overlooked, contribution of female scientists, engineers and mathematicians;
  • ensure effective representation, support and access to opportunities for all our students and staff, regardless of gender, in order that they realise their potential;
  • actively challenge gender stereotypes and inequalities;
  • encourage children and young people into the STEM disciplines

Our accomplishments and commitments to date have been recognised by the Equality Challenge Unit, the Institute of Physics and the WISE campaign.

Whether you are considering studying, working or partnering with us, I hope you too will be proud to join us.

Professor Nick Braithwaite, Executive Dean
