Professional biography

I am a PhD student at the Open University, funded by NERC through CENTA DTP.

The supervisors for my project "Finding a Pulse: Melt Formation and Timing in the Garhwal Himalaya" are Clare Warren, Tom Argles, Sam Hammond, Nigel Harris (OU), and Chris Spencer (Queen's University, Canada).

I previously studied geology at the University of Southampton, earning an Integrated Master's degree.

Research interests

For my PhD project, I am studying leucogranites, migmatites and metapelites from the Garhwal Himalaya, India. I aim to constrain the source, melt reactions and timescales of melting episodes of these upper Greater Himalayan Sequence rocks to build on our knowledge of mountain belt formation and mid-crustal metamorphic processes.

My analysis involves detailed petrographic observation of samples collected during my fieldwork in the Himalaya in October 2018, coupled with EDS and LA-ICP-MS elemental data collected at the Open University, as well as analysis of O isotopes, U-Th-Pb, and trace elements in zircon separates.
