"Volatiles in the Earth-Moon System: a stable isotope perspective".
My work involves measuring volatile abundances and stable isotopes within igneous apatites from terrestrial basalt and lunar Apollo basalt samples. The project makes use of optical microscopy, SEM-CL, EPMA, NanoSIMS and XANES to both contextualise and acquire quantitative data for the samples. The research will contribute towards a better understanding of the role volatiles played historically within lunar magma(s), such as driving eruptions.
In addition to teaching on Open University modules our academics are engaged in ground breaking research that benefits individuals and society.
