"Volatiles in the Earth-Moon System: a stable isotope perspective".
My latest work involves measuring abundance and stable isotopes within igneous zoned apatites from terrestrial and lunar basalt (Apollo) samples. The project makes use of optical microscopy, SEM-CL, EPMA, NanoSIMS, XANES and EXAFS to both contextualise the samples and to acquire quantitative data. The research will contribute towards a better understanding of the historical behaviour of volatiles within lunar magma and, ultimately, will provide a better understanding of the evolutionary history of the lunar interior.
In addition to teaching on Open University modules our academics are engaged in ground breaking research that benefits individuals and society.
