Rebecca joined the Open University in 2015 as a Research Technician to support a Defra-funded project investigating a novel biodegradable plastic. She is now a Project Officer within the Ecosystems and Geobiology Laboratories, and responsible for the day-to-day management of the experimental areas which includes two Containment Level 2 biodegradability laboratories, a controlled environment facility, soil physics and field-based research facilities.
Rebecca supports research undertaken by academics and PhD students within the Schools of Environment, Earth and Ecosystem Sciences (EEES) and Engineering and Innovation (E&I) and is responsible for overseeing commercial biodegradability contracts. She is a Member of the Royal Society of Biology and the Institute of Science and Technology, and was awarded Registered Scientist (RSci) status by the Science Council.
