Professional biography

I am CENTA NERC funded PhD student in my second year year. My PhD project involves reconstructing the Indian monsoon’s response to global climate change.

Utilising samples recovered from IODP Exp. 353 within the core region of the Indian monsoon, my project aims to reconstruct the seasonal changes of the Indian monsoon ~145-60 ka. I will use a multi-proxy approach to address this through combining geochemical tracers (e.g. trace elements, oxygen isotopes) and calcification of planktonic foraminifera in order to reconstruct palaeotemperatures and salinity gradients within the Bay of Bengal. Overall my research will aim to gain a better understanding of the response of the monsoon to various forcing parameters and boundary conditions.

Supervisors: Dr. Pallavi Anand (OU), Dr. Phil Sexton (OU) and Dr. Melanie Leng (BGS)
