Ms Jessica Barnes

Professional biography

I studied my PhD at the Open University investigating water in the Moon. Much of my research to date has focused on analyses of volatiles in apatite in Apollo Moon rocks and lunar meteorites. In particular my doctoral research used the H-isotopic composition of lunar water to assess where in the Solar System water residing in the lunar interior may have originated. I am now utilising the analytical instrumentation at the OU to determine more about the other volatiles in lunar apatites and I am also trying to date these rocks.
