Professional biography

I graduated in chemistry from the University of Leicester in 1987.

Following my degree, I commenced work in the special gases business, principally engaged in the manufacture of gas calibration standards. After eight years in the gas industry, I moved to an employee-owned company in the polymer industry where I spent ten years working in chemical plant management. After this I worked for the Environment Agency for seven years as a Pollution Prevention Officer.

I have been employed by the Open University as a Laboratory Manager since 2015. I manage a number of research laboratories in the Faculty of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.
